GEENA's mission is to build interest and competence in non-traditional careers among young women from grades 9 through 14.

• Encourages cultural strengths
• Uses mentors
• Gives girls time to speak out
• Helps girls to develop trusting relationships with other girls and women
• Allows girls a voice in program design
• Provides commy serviceunit
• Interrelates with schools, educators, and a (K-16) school curriculum

The program offers curriculum materials, role models and videos to recruit girls into non-traditional careers. A mentoring component and a campus chartered club for young women in grades 13 and 14 provides support from professional women. This is the third year of the program, funded with a Perkins grant from the Rhode Island Department of Education. GEENA is a partner with CCRI's WomenTech Project and networks with many organizations and schools around the state on the issues of gender equity.
