THE RIGC MISSION STATEMENT

The Rhode Island Girls' Coalition is an alliance of organizations and individuals — including girls of all ages — that is creating gender specific activities and opportunities for Rhode Island girls. The RIGC was founded in the spring of 2000, by three organizations: Big Sisters of Rhode Island, Girls Scouts of Rhode Island, the YWCA of Greater Rhode Island, and one individual, Susan Sklar.

The RIGC promotes the well-being of girls through the exchange of information, joint projects and research, and the shared vision of a brighter future for girls. The Coalition, through its members and participants pursue its mission by:

• increasing public awareness of the unique needs of girls
• Advocating on behalf of girls
• Creating and improving girls programs and services
• Developing new resources for these projects
