Street, PO Box 41059, The purpose of the Planned Parenthood of Rhode Island Teen Health Center is to reduce unintended pregnancies and sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and to encourage teens to delay the age at which they become sexually active. The Teen
Health Center offers walk-in reproductive health services, reproductive
health education, and peer education opportunities.
Planned Parenthood sponsors a peer educator program for high school ages students (ages 13 to 17). Trainings are conducted once a year during the summer. The 40-hour training covers a range of topics including: the female and male reproductive systems, healthy communications and healthy relationships, and pregnancy prevention. Once peers complete their training, they assist Planned Parenthood staff at the Teen Health Center. The peer educators also assist the education staff with conducting workshops for community organizations. After school Summer
